Meet Thumbelina. The Worlds Smallest Horse

By Caroline On October 6th, 2008 in Miniature Horses /

Tiny Thumbelina, stands at just 17 inches high.  She is a dwarf miniature horse and was bred by the Goessling family of Goose Creek Farm, St Louis. She weighed just eight pounds when she was born and wasn’t expected to survive. Her breeders realised that she may become a record breaker when she stopped growing at a year old.

Despite being small in stature Thumbelina is big in personality and spends most of her time playing with her owners dogs. She has also brought a smile to the faces of thousands of sick and needy children and has raised money and awareness for many childrens charities including hospitals, childrens homes and schools.

Thumbelina will never be bred from as she carries the dwarf gene and it would be unfair to pass this on to her offspring. She may also only live to about 17 instead of 35 which is average for a normal horse but she will be well loved and will never be sold.
