In January this year the RSPCA launched a huge animal rescue operation at Spindles Farm in Amersham. They found 146 neglected horses, ponies and donkeys. 32 dead horses were found at the scene and 3 more had to be put down.

111 equines were placed into the hands of various horse charities who have spent months treating and rehabilitating the animals.

It’s been a long wait but the cruelty hearing starts tomorrow (8 Dec) and due to the huge amounts of evidence and large number of witnesses is expected to run until March 2009.
