Horse Put Down After Dog Attack
A Thoroughbred horse has been put down days after it was severely injured by a Pit Bull Terrier type dog.
Joe and Shetland Pony, Danny were grazing in their field at a farm near Windsor when they were attacked. Both horses suffered lacerations to their legs. Joe was put to sleep on 1st November due to the extent of his injuries.
A passer-by saw the dog chasing the horses and tried to stop it before alerting the owner that the horses were injured.
A man was seen calling the dog then leaving the field with it. The dog is described as tan coloured, about 36” tall and with a head like a Pit Bull Terrier.
Pc Marie Herbert said:
“The owner of the horses is naturally distraught by what has happened. I am appealing to anyone who has seen a dog matching this description with its owner in or around the Broom Farm estate, or knows who this may be, to contact police as soon as possible.”
Anyone who can provide information regarding the owner of the dog should call the police on: Tel: 08458 505505.
