Churchill Downs in Louisville played host this week to a round of American Idol auditions. The track is well known for being the home of the legendary Kentucky Derby.

The singing competition could easily be compared to a real horse race where only the most talented make it past the finish line.

This is not the first time that the race course has hosted a musical event. The Rolling Stones played a concert there in 2006.

Churchill Downs officially opened in 1875 and held the first Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks in its first year.
