2012 Hope Rosie Chinery Breaks Neck in Fall

Promising young rider Rosie Chinery has broken her neck after being thrown from a horse in Newmarket, Suffolk.

The horse was galloping uphill when it suddenly collapsed, catapulting 18 year old Rosie off. It is thought that the horse may have suffered a heart attack.

An air ambulance was called for Rosie but her condition was such that paramedics decided it would be better to transport her by road. She was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge where she is currently in a coma.

Rosies grandfather said of the tragedy:

“The ambulance crew said it was touch and go whether they’d get her to hospital in time. She’s known throughout the country — I have had phone calls all morning. She’s hoping to get into 2012. She’s a great prospect. But she’ll be back if she can get through all this. She’s got great talent.”
