By admin On April 30th, 2009 in Dressage, Equestrian News /

Mary King is looking for a rider for her Olympic Silver Medal winning horse King Solomon III.

Paula Lee has been riding ‘Solly’ since 2005 when he retired from eventing. Paula has qualified the horse for the 2009 British Dressage South West Summer Regionals but cannot ride now herself as she is pregnant.

Paula said:

“I am looking for a talented young rider or well deserving rider who just needs the opportunity to show their talent,”

“I am expecting a baby in August and will be unable to compete him at the regionals myself. I would therefore like to give someone the wonderful opportunity to ride this amazing horse.
“We are looking for a kind, considerate, quiet rider who really deserves a chance.”

Para Dressage Rider to Get New ‘Riding Legs’

By Caroline On November 4th, 2008 in Dressage /

Erin OrfordA team of nine fundraisers have raised £13,000 to enable para dressage rider Erin Orford to have special prosthetic legs made.

Erin is a bilateral amputee and also has shortened arms due to the radius being missing. She started riding at the age of two at a Riding for the Disabled group based in Chesham and in 2005 won a Para Dressage talent spotting competition.

Andrew Hogge, a partner from Cyril Leonard said:

“We were specifically looking for a young person with determination, ability, physical need and financial need, who we could assist in living their dream to compete at the 2012 London Olympics. When we were introduced to Erin by SportsAid, we knew we had found the right person.”

Erin, who has a busy few years ahead with studying for her business degree and training and competing her horses said:

“What Andrew, his team and everyone who sponsored them have done for me is just unbelievable. Having prosthetic legs made especially for riding will give me significantly more control and also help to reduce the pain and discomfort I have at the moment. In turn, this means I will be able to train more often and for longer periods of time.

The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, who normally make my everyday legs, are in the process of making my first ‘riding legs’ at the moment. They have never made any before, so I’m not sure when they will be finished, but I will hopefully have them for next year.”
